NEW! SPAX® POWERLAGS® XF - Experience faster, cleaner structural wood-to-wood connections with SPAX POWERLAGS XF Pancake Head structural screws. Engineered for demanding projects, these innovative fasteners eliminate the need for pre-drilling thanks to SPAX’s advanced 4CUT Point. The razor-sharp tip delivers quick starts, reduced splitting, and smooth penetration for efficient installation in both dimensional lumber and large timbers.
POWERLAGS XF Pancake Head screws feature a 40% lower-profile head that seats flush for a clean, professional finish ideal for applications where appearance matters. The wide bearing surface provides strong clamping force, while the precision-engineered T-Star drive ensures exceptional bit engagement.
Choose the yellow zinc coating for interior applications, SPAX® POWERLAGS XF® structural screws deliver strong grip and high clamping force in framing, beam and truss assembly, cabinet and kitchen remodels, hidden stair balusters, and more. Every POWERLAGS XF screw is carefully heat-treated to achieve an ideal balance of strength and ductility for structural reliability. Backed by third-party testing and IRC/IBC code approvals, these fasteners deliver verified performance you can trust on critical load-bearing applications including 2x lumber, 4x4 and 6x6 timbers, and engineered wood products (EWP).
Available in: 1/4", 3/8", and 5/16" diameters
Cold-rolled carbon steel wire, heat treated and plated with a yellow zinc finish to prevent red rust. Yellow zinc is tested and recognized for use in above ground contact pressure treated lumber for interior dry/damp general construction applications (e.g., AWPA UC1-UC2).
• 10% FASTER INSTALLATION: Optimized thread pitch design along with SPAX 4CUT Point and serrated threads.
• NO PRE-DRILLING REQUIRED: Razor-sharp tip delivers a fast, clean start, reduces splitting, and ensures smoother installation in wood and treated lumber.
• CLEAN, FLUSH FINISH: Engineered with a 40% lower-profile pancake head that seats cleanly for a smooth, professional-grade finish on structural outdoor projects.
• PRECISION T-STAR DRIVE: T40 drive for 1/4" & 5/16" diameters and T50 drive for 3/8" sizes ensure strong bit engagement, reduced cam-outs, and consistent torque transfer.

1 Based upon ASD design loads. Values shall be multiplied by the applicable adjustment values provided in the 2024 National Design Specification (NDS) for Wood Construction.
2 Withdrawal values are pounds per inch of thread including the tip but excluding the length of the upper 4CUT™. Minimum penetration into the main member is 1-1/2" for the 1/4" and 5/16" diameters, 2" for the 3/8" diameter, and 3" for the 1/2" diameter.
3 Head pull-through values are based upon a 1-1/2" side member.
4 Lateral shear capacity is based upon a 1-1/2" side member and at least 1-1/2" penetration into the main member for the 1/4" and 5/16" diameters or 3-1/2" for the 3/8" or 1/2" diameters.
5 Tabulated values are based upon the specific gravities in the NDS. For specific gravities not listed, use the next lower value. When the connection has two different species, use the lower specific gravity.
